Presence, not presents

Have you ever sat with someone who was truly present? Someone who asked nothing of you, other than yourself… no judgement, advice, just wholehearted presence?

 

So easy to give, yet so rarely done in these days of busy-ness and distraction. How can you give the people around you the gift of your presence this year? Here are some tips:  When someone is talking, truly listen. If you find yourself judging, or wanting to jump in with your own experience or advice, see what it feels like to hold back. Focus on a sense, perhaps vision, hearing or what you are feeling inside. Be there. People know when you’re not. And people sense when you are.
