It’s Not Easy Being Sensitive These Days!

For sensitive people, shifts can feel monumental.

And it’s SO easy to get trapped in a worried, anxious mind.  But I think we’ve spent enough time there, haven’t we? Covid has asked our bodies to slow down, yet our minds keep racing into a fearful future or a non-existent past.

Wouldn’t it be nice to make a shift to get out of the “shoulds, what-if’s, I can’t, what’s next” mind and return to actually being here?

Mindfulness is great, but what I’m practicing now is simple and even more powerful.

Here’s the shift:

Old way                                                                   New Way

Busy                                                                         Present

Values Achievement                                    Feeling good is the priority

Work harder                                                        Quality of relationships

Competition                                                          Collaboration together

Push through                                                            Listening to my body

Doing                                                                         Being

Intelligence                                                                Wisdom

Judging                                                   Openness to seeing everything

Accumulation of wealth                                 Re-evaluation of priorities

Power                                                             Empathy and inclusiveness

In shifts like this, we often know very well what we don’t want anymore…

anxiety
fear
exhaustion
pain

And here’s the thing: It hurts on the way out, hence the explosion of ugliness we might see around us.  Things that had been held under the surface in tension for so long have to be released and they look like problems.

But what DO you want and can you move towards that?

Curiously, when what you DO want gets centre stage, the annoyances, irritations, and pain often take a back seat.

What do you value so much that you can make it centre stage of your life and move towards that?

As empaths, we get guarded and protective about life and so we should.

But the magic happens when we’ve lived there long enough in isolation and yearn for something more open, more connected, more…

Key #5: Loving Yourself Back to Life at Midlife

Let love be my first and last stop on this journey. And may I find as many moments of love as I can in between.   I always thought self-love was over-rated. I thought, what about all our other emotions, our anger, our rage and shame? They count too! I

The Cure for Anxiety is Creativity

Creativity does not mean you have to take up painting! Anxiety is a form of fear that comes in many disguises.  Thoughts that something bad is going to happen.  Crushing chest tightness and shortness of breath. A mind that projects into the future with all the “what-ifs” that likely will
