The Time is Always NOW

Well, I’ve been afraid of changing
‘Cause I’ve built my life around you
But time makes you bolder
Even children get older
And I’m getting older too

Stevie Nicks, Landslide

If you’re my generation you can probably hear Stevie Nicks belting out those words as you read them. When I heard those lyrics in a yoga class this morning, I almost fell out of my tree pose.

Not in a morbid, depressing way, but a real, vivid, holy shit kind of way.

Not in an urgent, anxious kind of way, but a peaceful, this-is-it kind of way.

Connected to the bigger picture, the larger cycle of life, where children are getting older as we are, and living in this moment is of primary importance because that’s all there is folks! Don’t let a crisis be the impetus for putting what you truly value on center stage.

So, so, so many of our worries today will be so, so, so irrelevant, not just at the end of our lives, but next year, or even next week. Most of them will be.

The sad reality is that so many people live with worries and fears everyday that simply will never materialize. As Mark Twain says “I’ve lived a life of many sorrows, most of which never happened”.

The world lost an inspirational leader this week. Scott Dinsmore, 29, creator of Live Your Legend, died in a freak accident climbing Mount Kilamanjaro. Scott was passionate about people finding and doing the work they love while on this planet. He said it better than anyone else I know. Listen to his TED talk at the link below and you might also fall out of your tree. Hug those you love today 🙂

It seems to me that to feel any positive emotion such as love, joy, empathy, enthusiasm, we have to be present in our body to feel it, know it or give it away. As a highly sensitive person, this “tend and befriend” response to others can go overboard, particularly when

What Packaged Scallop Potatoes Taught Me

I love scalloped potatoes but without my sister here to make them, they’re not happening.  Too much work.  So I was grateful to my friend for pointing me in the direction of Betty Crocker’s instant scalloped potatoes for our family Easter dinner.  Yup… just add water and milk. Delicious. Notice

Finding Your Extremes to Find Your Centre

Happy Spring Equinox! If this seems like an unusual title for a mindfulness blog, stay with me.  So often we live our lives based on “this is ok, and that is not.” Think right now of all the things you deem acceptable, and what you spend energy working against.  It

The Faulty Belief under Shame, Fear and Anger

“You can live your life as if nothing is a miracle, or as if everything is a miracle.” Albert Einstein Don’t worry, I’m not going to tell you that life is all sunshine and roses and that everything is a miracle, that’s not my way.  But I am going to
